The smartphone in your hands right now is one of the most useful tools available to us in the digital era. Leading a healthy lifestyle has become that much easier using apps. There are numerous apps available that are only a few taps away from being downloaded at the app store for (mostly) free! Here are our top 5 favorite apps for healthy lifestyle and nutrition.

Cookspiration : From personal experience, I can say that this app is one of my favorites! Created by Dietitians of Canada, this app not only provides you with ideas for meals, but it sorts recipes based on genre and moods. This app makes healthy eating so much more fun and convenient – which is what a healthy lifestyle is all about!  Available on both Android and App Store (Free!)

Canada’s Food Guide App:  Wish you could remember how many servings of fruits and vegetables you should be having per day? Want to know what foods count as a serving? Say no more! The Canada’s Food Guide App is a free app that allows users to easily access the food guide in a digital format. Available on both Android and App Store (Free!)

Lifesum: Lifesum is a fantastic app for those wanting to get serious about what they are eating. You can filter the recipes offered by the app by lifestyle (i.e. gluten-free, vegan) and also track how many of each macronutrient you are to eat per day. Available on both the App Store and Google Play, it is an app you won’t want to miss!

Good Habits : Having used this app for about five years now, I can personally give a big thumbs up for this app! Users can type in what habits they would like to keep up and log in to the app to record if they have followed through with it. Ideas for good habits to track are: decrease screen time, drink lots of water (to your individual needs), and eat at least one or two home cooked meals.

Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock : A good nights rest is just as much apart of a healthy lifestyle as nutritious eating and exercise. Sleep helps restore and repair our bodies and also influences our eating patterns. The Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock app is an intelligent alarm clock that aims to wake you up during your lightest sleep phase. In doing so, you can wake up feeling well rested and full of energy.

These are just five of the apps that I found to be extremely useful. With the app store offering a countless number of apps, there is an app out there waiting for you to put it to good use! As always, a healthy lifestyle is meant to be enjoyable and easy and these apps help you to do just that!

  1. Nice article! Thanks for posting wonderful information. Making changes to your diet may also be beneficial that can be worsened by the things you eat or drink. Keep track of your food intake what you eat and drink every day.
